Welcome!

Welcome to Mustard Seed Preschool and Kindergarten, a nurturing, Christ-centered environment where children blossom through play! We are thrilled to partner with you in your child’s journey of faith, learning, and growth.

Our Story

Mustard Seed Preschool and Kindergarten (MSPK) opened its doors in 2009 as a non-denominational Christian community outreach of Faith Bible Church of Vallejo. We welcome children and families of any culture, ethnic, socio-economic, or religious background.

MSPK also serves as a local model demonstration school for incorporating sound Bible-based doctrine through a play-based developmental approach based on current principles of child development research.

Mission &

Vision

Our mission is to create a nurturing environment where children and their families can experience the love of God through responsive care, acceptance, and endless learning opportunities. We value the uniqueness of each child and strive to provide developmentally appropriate activities that promote spiritual, social/emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.

Our vision is to encourage a child’s spiritual development by promoting awareness that each child is created and loved by God. We will encourage a child’s social-emotional growth by building confidence and promoting participation in group activities. We will encourage a child’s physical growth by encouraging experiences that develop large and small muscle coordination and motor skills. We will encourage a child’s cognitive growth by encouraging enthusiasm for learning, exploring, and self-discovery through first-hand experiences.

Spiritual

We believe in nurturing the spirits of our children. We want them to know that they are each created by God and loved by Him. We do this by teaching them Bible stories, having them participate in art projects, singing songs, and doing puppet shows. We also pray with the children. We want to help them start a relationship with God.

Social-Emotional

We support children’s social and emotional well-being in a supportive environment. We encourage them to express themselves, participate in group activities, take turns, and learn problem-solving skills. Our teachers help them develop a sense of security and self-control while guiding them in resolving conflicts peacefully.

Physical

We believe in the importance of physical development and provide ample opportunities for children to develop their gross and fine motor skills. We encourage active play, creative movement, and hands-on activities that build coordination and strength. Our classrooms and outdoor play spaces are designed to allow children to explore, experiment, and take safe risks as they learn and grow.

Cognitive

We believe in fostering a love of learning in all children. Through hands-on experiences and exciting challenges, we encourage children to explore their world and develop essential problem-solving skills.

Philosophy

The early years (the first five years of life) are a critical time for learning and development. We provide a developmentally safe and nurturing environment that promotes spiritual, social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development, all while responding to the needs of the children’s families.

Our philosophy centers around play-based learning, which we believe encourages the development of the “whole” child. We also believe that learning opportunities should help a child:

  • Become a unique and competent individual.
  • Foster self-esteem and self-worth.
  • Become confident and responsible.
  • Learn to trust and be trusted.
  • Develop inner problem-solving skills.
  • Learn to manage transitions and changes.
  • Communicate with peers and adults.
  • Learn and apply sound biblical life principles.
  • Develop spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.

We provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can grow and develop in all areas: spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. We believe in developing the “whole” child and have incorporated wooden play lofts in our classrooms to encourage competence and creativity through play. The play lofts also add a multi-dimensional space to the children’s play, encouraging physical, social, emotional, and dramatic play. We believe in providing the best possible play equipment and assure you that our teachers and staff closely supervise the children during play, ensuring their safety and protection at all times.
